Interrogative pronoun

Interrogative pronouns are used to ask questions. (Think what 'interrogate' means.) They are pronouns, and therefore have very general meanings. "Who did this?", for example, refers potentially to any human person - and some non-human ones. 'Where?' means 'in which place?', and can refer to any location; 'when?' can refer to any time.

In form, interrogative pronouns are wh- words, and are the same as relative pronouns.
